AbstractWith the growth of the high data rate demands and the continuous increase in the connected devices and user's equipment, the spectrum resources will not be sufficient. Terahertz (THz) spectrum band provides wide bandwidth to tackle this problem and compensate for the high data rate demands. In this paper, we consider the case of a mobile base station (BS) (represented by an unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)) rotating on a ring around a central BS to serve cell-edge mobile users. The backhaul link between the UAV and the central BS is operating over the THz band. Mobile users can connect either directly to the central BS or via the UAV. To this end, two different switching mechanisms between the two options are analyzed and evaluated in this work. The impact of the involved parameters, including the radius of the UAV path, the UAV velocity, and the users' mobility, are investigated via simulation. 2021 IEEE.
